This is a GREAT place if you want to stay in Tamarindo and not have to worry about taking taxis or shuttles to get around town. My sister and I stayed here and we had the best time! I also very much enjoyed the private pool they have! It is very clean and comfortable, 24/7 water refill station is available, and the service is 20/10! Maggie, Patrick, and the whole staff are very kind, and helped us plan the best things to do in the area and places to eat as well! I recommend this hotel to anyone coming to town!

In the shade is an amazing place, a small piece of heaven in the heart of Tamarindo! Very close to the beach and with an amazing service, they really deserve the best! It is ideal for people who want to combine work with vacations on the west coast of Costa Rica. The vibe is ideal for people who want the amenities of a hotel and the warmth and hospitality of a hostel. The social every Thursday is an amazing way to meet with other people staying in the hotel and socialise. The pool is very nice and clean, the breakfast is delicious and the smoothies are refreshing. Huge thumbs up for the amazing service! Maggie and Sandra were extremely helpful; we asked them to book a shuttle for us to return to San Jose and they were very happy to do it and get everything sorted real quick. Would love to be back very soon!

Stayed at In The Shade for 6 nights while working remotely during the days and had a very enjoyable experience. The positives: The employees Sandra and Maggie were extremely attentive, communicative, and friendly both before and during my stay. Big shoutout to both of them who made my stay smooth and nice and helped me book both transport and tours! The hotel is located in a great location – close walking distance to everything in town, but not on the main road. The internet was as reliable as advertised which was helpful for working remotely! I enjoyed the option to work from the shared office space. I thought the room was a nice size and a comfortable layout (I stayed in a queen room on the second floor – Having a balcony was sweet) The negatives: The water pressure was very low – which made it extremely difficult to wash my hair as someone with long hair staying in a beach town. There was construction on the property in at least one of the rooms while i was there, and it was extremely noisy and lasted from morning till late afternoon – this made both working and relaxing on the property difficult, and I do wish the guests had been notified of this happening. There were some ants in my room in certain corners of the space from the moment I got in until I left. Lastly, and this may be personal preference – but I prefer to not be approached by anyone when inside the gate and walking on the way to my room. Multiple times I had come back to the hotel from being out and was pulled into conversation by staff who walked right up to me and interrupted me as I was going to my room. I know this was from a place of hospitality, but I found it stressful.

Booked this place last minute with my boyfriend, the host and the front desk are super attentive and helpful! Have to say the pool and common area are well designed and cleaned! The whole place overall is very relaxing and comfortable. Just the room a bit smaller than expected! Maggie, I suppose she is the owner, she is wonderful and amazing. Love her energy, it brightens our day! Super friendly and welcoming! It’s very private, cozy, easy to park, and only 7 minutes walking distance to the beach! It’s well suitable for those looking for a place to rest and spend most of the time outdoors! Would visit again when we have another trip to Tamarindo!

The staff was really nice, helpful and welcoming. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The pool is also fantastic. The coworking space is great to do some work in a quiet & comfortable environement (with AC) as well as delicious breakfast. I can definitely recommend this place.
