Alajuela Backpackers

Alajuela Backpackers is a boutique hostel about 15 minutes from Juan Santamaría International Airport, which makes it a logical first or last stop for nomads transiting through Costa Rica. The hostel has a comfortable lounge and terrace where you can work, and the WiFi holds up for basic tasks. Alajuela itself is a pleasant small city with a central park, good local restaurants, and lower prices than San José. If you have an early flight or a long layover, this is a much better option than airport hotels.
